The Mar Vista Family Center is a prototypical neighborhood center providing daycare and after-school programs for youth in the community. Unique beyond its program is its permanent utilization of a section of an unused portion of a city street. The new neighborhood plaza sits between the Center's two buildings that, along with the adjacent Ballona Creek, enclose it. Through this project, the Center created an urban oasis for its youth, and a place for education, play, and ceremony for the neighborhood.
