Ocean park community center

The Ocean Park Community Center is a multi-purpose facility that includes a 55-bed transitional housing facility, an out-patient counseling center, the offices of and meeting rooms for a battered women’s shelter program, as well as the main administrative offices of the parent social service agency.

The main structure, a renovated nursing home, is divided on the first floor between the transitional housing and counseling programs while the entire second floor is devoted to the transitional housing program. A new two-story wing contains the shelter and administrative offices. Raised ceilings and clerestory windows are prevalent throughout the upper floor to provide natural light and natural cooling. All facilities have controlled pedestrian access from the street to maintain program separation.
