Santa Monica New Hope Courtyard Apartments provides affordable independent living accommodations for special needs individuals that are in close proximity to public transportation and necessary services. The site is adjacent to the Santa Monica Pier, with food markets, the Third Street Promenade, and Santa Monica Place, all easily accessible. The site is steeply sloped towards the west, allowing for excellent coastal views. RMA executed the project in cooperation with Killefer Flammang Purtil Architects. The design for 25 one and two-bedroom apartments creates a u-shaped building that buffers the residents from adjacent traffic and noise while surrounding a series of multi-level courtyards that open to the west and the Pacific Ocean. Two meeting rooms are located on the deck level, pedestrians can access the project through a gated entryway, and secured parking is located below the building. All units are handicap accessible and adaptable.
